Patient Participation Group

Dear Patient,

We would like to know how we can improve our service to you and how you perceive our surgery and staff.

To help us with this, we are setting up a virtual patient representation group so that you can have your say. We will ask the members of this representative group some questions from time to time, such as what you think about our opening times or the quality of the care or service you received. We will contact you via email and keep our surveys succinct so it shouldn’t take too much of your time.

We aim to gather as many patients from as broad a spectrum as possible to get a truly representative sample. We need young people, workers, retirees, people with long term conditions and people from non-British ethnic groups.

Benefits to Patients

PPGs allow interested patients to be actively involved in the running of their Practice. The forum helps them better understand the Health Service (and its systems) and gives them the opportunity to voice their opinions. Ultimately this could mean the introduction of new services and improvements to the Practice.

Benefits to the GP Practice

A GP Practice can gain a great deal from having a PPG. A well-run group will allow GPs direct access to the expressed needs and perspectives of their patients. Practice populations can include patients with a wide range of skills and experiences, and this can be harnessed to great benefit. PPGs are also effective sounding boards for ideas that the Practice is considering implementing.
